Engvall and Mikheyev - Have had similarly good seasons the shorter prove-it deals seem right to me.

Dermott - term and a decent price - could be 4mil and the term and I'd be happy.

Goat - I like him you can disagree I think he's earned a below 1 mil longer-term spot on the 4th line.

Spezza - Why not bring him back? Good leadership, clearly liked in the room, has been scoring at a 35point pace. Willing to play for league minimum. Has the ability to be effective further up the lineup when injuries strike. Can play 2nd PP.

Engelland - insurance and cheap.

Shattenkirk - I really like him as a UFA option don't have to give him lots of term has been promising and can be a good custodian until Holl is more developed.

Bilyalov - lots of rumours linking the leafs and the KHL standout. He's worth a shot for sure and there's cap space and picks to address the position if this experiment goes sideways.

EDM trade - picks for two players who realistically won't get a shot. The Leafs top-9 is basically set and Korshkov, Marchment, Petan, Agostino and Brooks have better shots in the depth roles.

NSH Trade - Poille has been known to not shy away from big trades. With the d-depth in NSH Fabbro could go they get a pair of picks and the immediate scoring help they need.

This still leaves the Leafs with 4mil in cap space assuming the cap goes up by 1.5 mil so even if the cap does not go up AT ALL this would leave the Leafs with 2.5mil in cap space. Enough to wiggle a mid-season move or two if needed.
