Description
Kane is a volatile asset right now, not sure if Buffalo would want to send him away for peanuts or not. Also not sure if he'd do any better personally in Montreal (on-ice production aside). This would give Montreal a legit top 6, all players capable of 20+ goals, the bottom 6 is OK but wouldn't provide much offence unless a rookie really steps in up.

If Kane's perceived value is THAT low, I'd be irate if buffalo moved him. Start the year in buffalo and we will see his value at the deadline or offseason

I kinda like the trade for both teams. If the Sabres really don't want Kane, put him on waivers and hope someone picks him up so the Sabres would have have another 4.3m a year in cap room in the next two years.
If Kane can get in trouble in bars in Buffalo, I wonder if he could "settle down" in Montreal.

Why would the Sabres lose him for nothing? They could still trade him for a high pick and not take on any salary, that was a really stupid idea..

I agree with comment #1, if Kane was moved for Desharnais and a 3rd, I would be peeved. I just want to see how the season plays out.

Yeah, pretty sure the going rate for David Desharnais is an AHL player and a blowjob from Marc Bergevin... having troubles convincing Bergy.

Palhal, I've seen you write this a few times for Buffalo regarding putting Kane on Waivers. With the cap space they have Combined with (2) years left Evander's deal AND not needing to pay Eichel or Reinhart until also (2) years...why wouldn't you want to try to get assets (top, mid, low...whatever you can) in return rather than just letting him go? I don't think he has zero value...just may need a change in scenery. Buffalo seems to be a "hot spot" for issues with "Kanes".
