Description
lets say the cap stays the same and they get one buy out.

My honest opinion is this team needs some youth to step up.
All the decent RW options are 30+ years old. Who wants to sign that long term. Not me. I'd give them 3 years max, something tells me someone will be dumb and give them more. Lets all pray it's not GMJR and his fixation of "that's my guy no matter what".
Whats available in FA on RD is either way to much for a 3RD or so so.
TVR probably the best. Would be nice to trade for MacDermid but would LA really be willing to?
I mean what would we trade. JJ, Simon, ERod, Riikola.
Maybe they could use a LD, but really I don't see them making that trade.
Maybe we could send them Bjugstad. But I don't think they'd do it with his injury history. But maybe they would if they need help reaching the cap floor next season while rebuilding.

There is no money for a real 3C unless they find one in trade.
2.8 million roughly isn't going to get you one. Which is why I think they really need some youth to step up. Hallander, Poulin or Legare. But odds of the last two are slim. Hallander maybe.
If they could save some cap on the RW they could find a real 3C. But as is, I'd rather run 2 really good lines than constantly burdening the team with Simon or Sheary on the top 6.

This team really needs some serious improvement if it's going to win the cup next year. What they have put out this year isn't going to do it.

By e bye Hornqvist, time to retire.

one year deal, needs centers. If he doesn't play on IR he's probably insured. So they get what they love....free cap money. Perfect fit.

You need to add about 1.5M more to dadanov under that term to even get him to listen to a contract offer

    what?
compliance buyouts don't count against the cap. Which is why I traded him to ANA instead of using the buyout feature.

I don't know about that. Any contract with a guy going 31-32 next year is risky at any length greater than 1 year.
When the wheels come off they go fast. A 3 year deal is to 33-34. That could very much be a dead weight year.
It's risky to sign these guys till their mid 30s. It's why I would never sign this guy to a 4+ year deal. I don't want to touch players 34-35.
I really look at it as 2 years + one extra to make the numbers work for him.
I don't see him signing 6 million at any length of term. Maybe if it was a 1-2 year deal. But anything past that is risky and buyer be ware.
I'd rather not make that move.

Zuccarello for comparison. And that's a 6M for 5 year contract. At 3 years for a technically better player, you're in the 6M range. Probably 5.5M - 6M on 3 years.
