retain 500k and they might consider it. Montour won't sign that cheap.

I love Ryan Johansen.

But I don't want his contract for what i'm paying when I may eventually have to shell out money to guys like Dahlin and Cozens down the road. and the defenseman I want to move off the team is Ristolainen not Montour, and yes yes I know.....Ristolainen does not get Johansen at all.

I don't think Montour or Mittelstadt from Nashville's end gets it done. I think they'd rather keep him.

I do see RHD as a need for Nashville to help ease Dante Fabbro along, and really solidify the top four, but i'd rather do something around Ristolainen and Bonino. Ristolainen doesn;t have the value Buffalo fans think he has and theres a huge surplus of defenseman on the trade market and free agency which hurts. What also kills him are the underlying advanced stats which isn't good in a league where that matters more and more. I think his value personally is a top 9 forward and a very low or conditional first or high to mid second rounder and Nashville has that.

I think they will look to free agency first though to help out

Does replacing Montour with Miller make it more agreeable to BUF? I'd still be happy with that from the NSH perspective.

I'd much rather hold on to Jarnkrok, and try to trade Watson instead. I know the return wouldn't be nearly as good (5th maybe?), but Calle's value as a player over Watson far exceeds the extra $500G in cap space Watson brings.

While jarkrok is a better overall player no doubt. Nashville has similar players and he would be attractive on the trade market. Nashville doesn't have many hard hitting, grinders so keeping I'd think they like to keep Watson for that role. Plus they just signed him to a 3 year contract. It would be weird to trade him 5 month later.

I'm not sure how open Nashville is to retaining. They don't really have a history of it. And I think you're right about Montour, I didn't dive into his stats before throwing a number out there. I could see 4.25 +/- 0.25.

It's funny how we all value players. Personally I don't like Johansen lol. So I'd be glad to work something out with Ristolainen. For Nashville I think they still want a C prospect. And why I chose Mittlestadt was because Cozens isn't going anywhere and Casey has been on a Rocky development path. In fact I don't really know what he would be 2nd or 3rd line or maybe neither? I think Nashville would prefer Montour but if it was Risto, I think around the same deal might work for them. Say:
Johansen, 2020 Nsh 2nd
For
Ristolainen, Mittlestadt, Portillo, 2020 Buf 2nd
Nashville moves up like 6 spots
