your explanation says it all... Panthers acquire elite forward, Leafs get good d-man. An elite forward is worth more than a "good" d-man. Especially with an anchor of a contract in Bobrovsky. A 1st round pick doesn't do anything unless its a top 10 pick which there's no guarantees off. Laughable offer for the Leafs. Easy no.

Why though. Theres absolutely no reason to downgrade. They would have all the cap space in the world. In their situation and in most situations downgrading for absolutely no reason is extremely stupid.

I cant think of one reason to add kerfoot and Wallmark
