tbh gaudreau is invisible in the playoffs and might not make a huge contribution to the team moving forward. this is a good move if the team is looking for a change of playing style, and more consistency. also tkachuk and domi would completely piss on doughty.

Yeah and Gaudreau walks in 2 years either to New Jersey or Philly, So why would Montreal make this trade?

Dont think MTL would want a small forward. They have to many and with Caufield coming in, plus a top 10 pick that is likely to be a smaller skilled forward in Rossi, Perferitti or Hotlz it just doesnt make sense.

Johnny is the better hockey player no doubt and I dont even think Calgary says yes to this deal but MTL doesnt make this deal either.

I think Gaudreau would be a good add for Montreal. but that price is steep IMO

..... I would do that Habs trade and so would 90% of GM's (From a Habs perspective). I think people forget that Gaudreau is 100 point player....IN HIS PRIME.......Even if he doesn't score 100, he's a guaranteed 60+ in a BAD year. 75+ on average. This is a no brainer. He'd be the only true 1st line player on the team. Playing in the east will suit him better also as the west tends to be a tougher conference. The onlt reason this makes sense from a CGY perspective is they are getting another Tkachuk style layer that fits their team identity wayyy better. Domi may not score 80 with CGY but he can do all the other things that Gaudreau can't like hit, fight, etc....

I love Domi but Gaudreau is in a league above him offensively. Then throw on top of that a young LHD on a ELC/cheap contract.... There is literally no way to say no here. This makes you better now and also long term with the addition of Kylington.

Fun fact! Last Habs player to score 100 in a season was Mats Naslund...back in 85-86......... Let that sink in Habs fans.
