General comment - there wasn't a single player traded in 2013 to be CBO'd by another team. In 90% of ACGM's I see players moved to get CBO'd by another team.

Good chance the league doesn't want guys traded in order to bought out by another team (likely don't want one team getting several get-out-of-jail free cards).

Also, with the current state of the league, I would think owners would be more reluctant than ever to burn millions, or tens of millions of dollars to move up 36 spots in the draft, or get a 6th round pick.

too much term left on that boychuk contract for colorado to be interested.

if cbo is a thing expect the avs to use it on johnson before they would trade for someone else to cbo.

One of the first things I consider when I see retention deals, but got tired of pointing it out on every ACGM I look at.

One of the best example is Leaf fans trying to get Doughty and having the Kings retain $2, 3, 4M per year.

Imagine having that conversation with the Kings owner. Convince him to spend a small fortune a couple of summers ago, just to turn around and pay him tens of millions of dollars to play for another team.
