Description
No CBO and flat cap.... Tough spot to be in, but this is probably the most likely scenario.

Blackhawks Draft inclusive of trades made below.

#9 OA - Cole Perfetti - LW. I think he's going to drop a few spots because of his skating ability. His hockey IQ, vision, playmaking are top notch, but he's not the fastest player. The player is really hope they don't draft though is Holtz. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'd prefer Jack Quinn over Holtz. Quinn has a better shot IMO and utilizes it better. Holtz doesn't take a lot of high danger shots. I hope every prospect plays well, but it worries me is all that Holtz best attribute (his shot) to me isn't really the best in the league and he doesn't utilize it well.

Pick #53 - Alex Cotton - This is a bit of a risk IMO. Clearly he had a great year with Lethbridge, but He's a year older than his draft eligible peers and he gets PP time with Dylan Cozens and Calen Addison. Yes his 5v5 stats are pretty good too. I just don't see him being a pick in the 30's or 40's like other sites are suggesting because of the 1 good year he's had. It's nothing against him...I'm drafting him after all...it's just a really deep draft year and I think he'll fall a bit.

Pick #55 - Dmitri Ovchinnikov - Another high risk high reward pick IMO. His speed/vision/playmaking is there IMO, but it'll take him 3 years to be NHL ready. He's very small and doesn't look physically able to play in the AHL yet...let alone the NHL.

Pick #71 - Xavier Simoneau - Another really small guy. He'll need a number of years to simply mature into an adult before he can take any AHL players let alone NHL players. Very offensive minded. There is a role for these players, but I don't think his game is a 2-way game. Will need to be paired with other bigger 2-way forwards, but Kirby Dach and Strome are bigger guys...so why not? Use his offensive abilities.

Pick #78 - Logan Morrison - One of the youngest guys in the draft. He's literally 2 full years younger than Alex Cotton, but the same draft. No one should be expecting a 3rd round pick to be NHL ready any time soon. This will allow Logan multiple years in the OHL to continue to develop his game. He needs work defensively, but offensively he's already pretty darn good.

Pick #102 - Nico Daws - G - I prefer NOT to take any goalies in the 1st round. If another teams wants to risk that...fine. I do however believe in numbers for G prospects. Nico Daws was in Hawks prospect camp last year. He's been on their radar for a while.

Pick 164 - Callen Clang -YUP another goalie prospect. If a guy like Cayden Primeau can be draft #199 overall...then clearly goalie prospects can have at least some upside here. The Hawks need quantity right now.

  1. 2020 2nd round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Cost controlled speedy/gritty NHL player that's played on the top line with Toews and the 4th line. He can protect your 1st round investments.

Dylan Sikura is the Icehogs leading scorer. He's got NHL talent, but isn't getting a chance with the Hawks.

The 5th rounder is the feather to make it work IMO.

Because he's been there for just about his entire career. He and Toews don't often play with eachother. Only when the blendo matic gets used. They've been split apart of most of their careers. I suspect this will also help Dach develop as well.

Maybe. I prefer to distribute the talent vs load them all on one line. It's more of a preference thing. Strome and Debrincat are better when together. If the Hawks can roll 3 lines that can score then they're harder to play against. If you put all your best players on one line then that line will go up against a shutdown line and be neutralized like the AK72 line...Panarin Anisimov Kane were in the playoffs.

So then put Strome on the 2nd line and Debrincat as well cuz Dach is not 2nd liner
