Description
VAN Trade: The Canucks move Eriksson for cap relief. They'll be able to resign Markstrom and with the Expansion Draft coming up, Demko will have to be moved at some point anyway.

NYI Trade: The Islanders move Boychuk for cap relief. The Islanders will have to move a 1st round pick to clear cap.

TBL Trade: Tampa Bay has to trade Johnson to clear cap so they can sign their RFA's. Detroit acquires a plug at 2C. A 3rd round pick will be buying Johnson for cheap and Detroit still has 3 2nd round picks this year. If Johnson does well with top 6 minutes in Detroit, the Wings could easily trade him for more in the future.

Erik Gustafsson: The Wings need to acquire at least 1 LHD. Gustafsson gives them a LHD with an offensive game unlike DeKeyser and Nemeth. Gustafsson might have trouble finding a long term deal in free agency as not many teams have the money to spend. If he signs in Detroit, he would get top 4 minutes and powerplay time. If he played well, Detroit could trade him to a contender at the deadline with retained salary.

Our defence would be much improved. Our top 4 would consist of 2 solid offensive defenceman (Hronek and Gustafsson) and 2 solid defensive defenceman (DeKeyser and Boychuk).
On offense, we'd keep the top line the same and hopefully have a good 2nd line as well. Our bottom 6 will be completely open so anyone I have scratched could easily be in the lineup.

TDL Notes:
We could trade Gustafsson (2nd/3rd?)
We could trade Glendening (3rd/4th?)
We could trade Nemeth (3rd/4th)?
We could trade Filppula (4th?)
We could trade Helm (4th?)

Also, we could retain salary on any of them

If Seider proves he is NHL Ready, we could either trade Bowey for a pick, or trade/send down Biega and demote Bowey to 7th D.

TB fan, I think SY will be tougher on JBB, fellow former executive,. Erne may do it alone. TB needs to shed salary and will be up the creek without a paddle.

I could see Detroit pushing to give less for players on a cap deprived team like Tampa or demanding a lot for cap dumps. The only problem would be everyone telling me I'm crazy in the comments.

In my ACGM yesterday, a lot of people seemed to think that TJ would cost a late 2nd or 3rd which is why I decided to give that. Erne was really bad for us last year so I kind of just through him in.

You really want Johnson on the Wings.

I more just want a legit 2C. Without Athanasiou our 2nd best centre is Filppula or I guess Fabbri if he moves over. I don’t think we’ll attract anyone good in free agency either.

If Boston lets Krug walk I think Detroit is at the top of his short list other than that I think you are right.
