Description

IF Coghlan can make a really good impression at camp this summer or IF there's a way to sign a UFA for dirt cheap (would Buff play for peanuts?), then this could potentially work. Note that Coghlan doesn't have to make the playoff roster, he just has to leave the coaches believing that he's ready for full time NHL action next year. I really like A-Mart, but we only have him for one more year and he's gone. So if we move him we gain about $3.2M that could be used to solidify our goaltending for the next 5 or 6 years.

I know some have talked about moving Flower (including me) and some have talked about moving Stastny (including me) but I think this A-Mart idea has more muscle.

Paying the goaltending position $12.75M isn't conventional but nor is having two studs as your goaltending duo.

Fat chance Vegas can afford Lehner along with MAF. Realistically they don't have the cap for both. Realistically you're talking about $14 million per combined. You'd need to at least move Paul Stastny to afford to resign Lehner or move Tuch and other piece for very little salary back.

Lehner has talked publicly about getting paid what he deserves -- but having said that, I could see Lehner taking a discount to get more term as I think that is very important to him. However, that's a pretty big discount. He could get $7m+ in free agency with similar term.

Nah no way they're moving Martinez - plus I think he can be re-signed 4mx3. He was conditioned to be more of a shut down D in LA behind Doughty and Muzzin and he's finally showing he has more offense to give.

If he takes 3 years this off season, I don't think any team is going to give him 8 years when he is 32 years old.
