i still don't know what the goal is for the habs next season. if it's the playoffs they need to do something with the ld. if it's build though the draft they should move tatar, gallagher, and petry. moving those 3 would take like two years off a rebuild.

Partially disagree, Gallagher and Petry have a spot on this team for the future -- they are too valuable. MTL's depth at LW makes either Tatar or Domi the expendables and more likely trade options. If you imply selling all 3, à la Ottawa-fire-sell fashion, I'd disagree.
If Bergevin keeps to his proposed model (i.e. this is the last season of the "reset") then the 2020 draft is the last that matters for this short-term rebuild. As it stands, by October 2020, MTL will have drafted 35 players in the last 3 seasons. More so if they acquire more picks (Domi seems the likely candidate here since his contract is up to RFA this season) .
The prospect pool is currently deeper than I've ever seen it in MTL, so they are not "rebuilding" for years after this. The hope now, is that enough of these picks turn out well...
The goal is for the playoffs next season, and hopefully to seriously compete in a couple seasons once the youngsters mature

the only way this is the last year for a habs 'reset 'is if they get laf. the habs just don't have the talent they need to push for the cup and i don't see how they are going to get over the bubble team hump. trying to both reset/rebuild while going for the playoffs sound like two steps forward, two steps back.
