Description

Saw this trade suggested by a Toronto fan, and thought I'd look at it from Anaheim's side. (We've seen a lot of disgruntled Maple Leafs fans trading Marner or Nylander since their fifth-game loss to Columbus.) The original trade was Marner and Holl for Rakell and Manson, which strikes me as not close.

We also need to fill that top-4 RD hole somehow.

I mean, the deal is not awful, but it also will never happen. The whole Manson-to-Leafs thing is not happening. His remaining contract term no longer makes his deal appealing and the hell the Leafs are in with their cap situation, now and in future, when he is due for a raise. Leafs need a hard futures package to get back into the first round of the 2020 draft. They also need a new young goaltender on on a good contract with term, so although the Ducks have all that stuff, I can't see them giving it up that easily.
