Description
UFA Defencemen- Gudas is an obvious target but is only a 3rd pair guy. Dillon is imperfect but is a good defender and if he could fit on the right side he would help. It's probably an either/or situation instead of both. I don't see either getting a big money long-term deal.

Trades- Nashville is looking to get a bit younger and could use some help generating offence and zone entries. Dermott can help them on the left side and Kap would fit in well in their top-6. Maybe the 2nd is a bit much but I think the trade is decently close (although I'd rather have Fabbro I doubt the Preds want to move him).

Edmonton could use an upgrade on the wing and I think that's an easy price for them to pay. I know they're tight to the cap though so it might be another team.

Is this team better? Probably. Do they win a cup? Who knows man.

Both made around 3.5 million last year. With the flat cap, I am doubting either one is going to be getting a ton. Probably not even a raise. But since I signed both, and said we would only need one, feel free to give them last years money and it works out. Might mean a 22-man roster but it works.

Just curious what do you think they will sign for? Or where could the Leafs find value in the UFA market? Would love to hear some constructive input.

I see Gudas going for about 3 million, Dillon is another left handed defender so I doubt the leafs would pursue him. I want the leafs to try out Simmonds in free agency if we can find the money, he hasn't found his game since leaving the flyers and the leafs may be able to offer a short term deal. He adds some strength and forward depth. For defence I would want to try Mike Green but thats solely because I loved him on Washington 😂

I like Mike Green too but I don't think he's an option. There are lots of better ones available IMO.

I don't see the appeal of Simmonds. He's nowhere near the player he once was and will be too expensive. I also doubt he has the speed to keep up with whoever else is on his line, he's a hard pass.

I could see NSH accepting that deal - would prefer a 3rd though
