Description
There's an argument to be made for letting Pietrangelo go.
(1) Immediate salary cap resolution.
(2) If it's an 8 year deal how many more productive years does he have left?
(3) Get to keep Allen and Binnington together as a tandem which has proved extremely beneficial, whereas if Pietrangelo is re-signed Jake Allen would almost have to be a cap casualty.

Yeah, I have no idea why anyone would want to trade Sanford right now. The guy is turning into a real player before our eyes and he's dirt cheap for now.

Under my scenario I was $1.3 over so someone has to be traded. I avoided trading a D man because we just lost Petro. So it's Sanford, Blais, Barbie or Sunny. I chose Sanford.

Could be Bozak if his no-trade list doesn't come into play and we retain a little. Or buying out Steen, although GMDA seems reluctant to do that. A little more cash freed up would allow for a long-term extension for Dunn which could help in the long run. If we're trading Sanford, it would have to be a more impressive return IMO, maybe a pick in the 30-40 range this season.

Yea I think JR (or maybe Strickland? Some writer) recently said he doesn't think there's "any appetite" to buy out Steen given his contributions to the franchise over the years. I think he'll be with the Blues next year assuming he's healthy.

That would leave Bozak. I guess that's true we could still deal him and retain salary.
