Description
Trade works out well. Roy or Walker are young, improving by the year and would be good 2nd pairing guys. I chose Walker due to him beinga solid 2nd pairing dman. Either guy will be fine though. In return kings get a nice top 9 wing who can play on their pp or pk and skate like a rocket.

For Ufa's/RFA's

Brought Spezza back on a 1 year 800k deal. He wants to come back so lets go
Brought Boyle back, guy is a good 4th line center who blocks shots and can add some aggression to this team.
According to Mikheyev's gm a 2-3 year deal between 1.5-2 mill is being worked on. Things could change though which is why i chose the min of the deal for 2 years
Dermott signs a Holl deal
Martin comes back for a year saves us losing a 2nd.

I like this a lot. Roy is undervalued, Kapanen is overvalued. I think TOR might want Walker more though here.

I mainly chose roy because of his defensive skills and cap hit. Plus he works out really well for the future of the leafs. Dubas does not need to move Johnsson. Johnsson gets taken by seattle saving 3.4 mill in cap space. Giving us room to extend Hyman and Roy.

Plus his comments really spoke to me

“I’m a defensive-minded player, I try to have clean breakouts, make a good first pass out of our zone to the wingers… and I try to play physical when I can. I think there’s an element of consistency there, I take pride in that… I think that it makes it easier for everyone on the ice if they know what I’m going to do.” <--Roy

so Walker for Kapenan okay i can live with that. Will mean moving Johnsson but we can manage that. Just means seattle takes holl instead.

In general as said above if either guy was offered i would be good with it.

I think the Kings would do either. Roy had the better season, but Walker has the higher ceiling. Roy makes more sense for Toronto since he's cheaper for one more year. However, if Roy has another quality season, his extension would probably cost more than what Walker is expected to get on his extension this fall.

If I were Blake, I'd be looking to move Roy before Walker. I'd pull the trigger on either one for Kapanen though.
