Description

1. Johnsson can be moved anywhere, picked Detorit as they can use some decent mid 6 depth
2. Something has to happen in TB, willing to move Liljegren in this deal as Cernak isn't much older.
3. Freddy to Carolina makes a lot of sense to me. He only makes $1M the rest of the year, so that has to be appealing to smaller market teams. And IMO Freddy is a .920 goalie behind a team with a better defensive structure (career .917, so this isn't a huge reach)
4. Hard to gauge Kuemper's value now. Is Ari desperate to shed payroll? Threw Engvall in there to provide them with some cheap depth if they have to move out more $$.

I think the Jake Allen trade will be the template for the Andersen trade. In other words, you probably won't get much for a cap dump.

Kuemper vs Andersen is probably a net zero gain (you save 500k.. big deal)
Perry is due for decline/pay cut, but 1.5mil is too little.

At the end of the day, Kuemper + Perry + Cernak isnt enough of an upgrade over Andersen + Johnsson + Barrie, to put the Leafs over the top

Allen was likely viewed as a rental backup (1B at best) though. I would assume any team grabbing Andersen would be acquiring him as their No. 1 with plans to re-sign.

2nd isn't that much of a stretch from a 3rd.

There likely isn't a better current starter available through trade than Kuemper. UFAs - Lehner and Markstrom will be more than $5M.
