Salty leafs fan not happy they didn't get Jake Allen for a 3rd? Who cares if we spend 15m on goaltending, all of our pending UFA are for next year when Allen's contract is over, we can afford it and finally have a real backup.

Leafs aren't looking for a backup. If anything they're looking to trade Andersen (and this trade kind of raises his value).

But to be honest - Montreal could have easily signed a similar backup for $4,350,000 x 1 year and saved a 3rd round pick.
