Description

Bergevin decided to ignore the emergence of a new type of defenseman, smaller and quicker, more mobile and offensive than ever (Hughes, Makar, Heiskanen, etc.) I have nothing against big stay at home dmen but you can't base your whole defense core on that, especially on a underwhelming offensive core like Montréal's. The only guy who could move the puck well, even if he lacked everything else, is most likely gone following Edmundson's acquisition. Let's just hope Romanov develops properly.

You know that top 4 will be fed major minutes as well. So Romanov likely has an uphill battle to prove himself.

Kulak will play before Fleury; he deserves it anyway. Kulak even played on RD this year and Romanov can too. I have no problem to ease Romanov debut in the NHL. His role will progress , like Suzuki

There is way more examples of young guys (even top picks) being buried in small roles and not being able to progress than there is Suzuki like success stories on this team in the last 5 years.
