Description
Playoff injuries revealed. Seguin torn labrum in hip. Out 4-6 Months. Turris helps fill void a little bit. 1 year deal to prove that he is still valuable. Don't have to protect him in expansion.
Johns went back to concussion issues. Trade for a solid 3LD that isn't going to get picked by Seattle. Braun just gives us a little more stability.
Bobby Ryan is a replacement for Perry. Same concept as Turris. Got bought out, 1 year to prove he's still valuable. Don't have to protect him in expansion.
This also allows us to not rush the prospects (Dellandrea, Harley, Robertson, Oettinger) and have 1 more year to develop.
Lundqvist wants a shot at a cup. Dallas proved they are right there. The injury questions with Bishop prove that he will still get his chance to play significant minutes. Retires after the season.

Why would Philly trade the newly signed Braun on a great contract for a near useless Cogliano, a bust and a below average pick?

It doesn't have to be him. Just someone on a good deal on the back end for extra support.

The problem I see with Harley, Dellandrea, Oettinger and Robertson is the following : Are they going to have the possibility of developing this year outside the NHL?

That must be in Nill's head for sure

True. This is all as if there is an AHL season and they are able to play and develop. Even if they expand rosters like they did at the bubble, I don't think they play on a regular basis, which they'll need to develop.
