No way... we all love McDonagh, but he was traded because Gorton did not want to pay him until he is 37. Tyler Johnson at this point is not a 40 point player, if so just that. Rangers need an upgrade at 2C not a downgrade. A 2 and a 3 is WAY too much to give up to take on Johnson even though “his addition lowers the price on McDonagh.” If it is only a 3rd, and TJ is 50% retained, and McD is partially retained, maybe.

Rangers can't afford nearly $12 million in cap between Johnson and McDonagh they still have Strome, DeAngelo and Georgiev amongst others to resign.
