Description

I know Dorion said he was looking to add another forward but I would much rather get Zaitsev off the books and trading him away for Eriksson, who only has 2 seasons left, feels like it could be the only real way to make it happen. This doesn't necessarily make our D better for 20-21, but it will for 21-22 and beyond.

I'm not sure that makes sense. Over his TWO remaining seasons Eriksson is owed $5M, including $1M of it in bonus. Over Zaitsev's FOUR remaining years he is owed $13M (after OTT retains), which include $4M in bonuses. If EITHER team has to add to this I would say it's Ottawa... but I do feel both teams get something they want with this trade AS-IS.

But that would still have OTT eating $5M in cap in 22-23, whereas Eriksson is all gone at the end of 21-22. I prefer the Eriksson deal.
