Description
TB couldn’t get anyone to take Johnson and all 5M for 3 more years for nothing. So Pens help them out.

TB retains 2M of the 5M and throw-in alittle sweetener; with the 3rd Round Pick for the 4th. Seeing as TB will still be a contender, and also getting Stamkos back, that 3rd will be a late 3rd(really late..lol).

TB has an extra 3M to sign their young guys. Cirelli, Cernak, and Sergachev b4 a team offer one.

Or the Pens should take Gourde if TB will retain alittle contract too. But that 3rd line was tough, tough to break that line up.

Johnson fits nicely on the right side of the Pens 3rd line, fits the contract window(now only 3M/yr), age window with Crosby/Malkin/Letang. If 1st/2nd line Center insurance if Crosby or Mallon get hurt. Help TB out of their cap crunch by 3M. Win-Win!! I saved two teams!!

Right, that have to find someone and they have to retain ATLEAST 2M. Lol. They tried giving him up for free. Nothing, free, here take him at 5M a year. They put him on waivers. No one took him at 5M/yr. FOR FREE

Exactly right, they are gonna have to find someone and retain some money and throw in a sweetener to take Johnson. Exactly right. Might not be the Pens, but someone.

Yeah pretty much. There is no way they are retaining 2M though. No issue paying a first for someone like detroit to hold the 2M

If they want to get rid of of Johnson and not Gourde or Killorn or Palat, they are probably gonna have to retain something and give a sweetener. 5M/yr for 3 years on a 30 year old 3rd line isn’t something a team is gonna be willing to do this year. Now 3M, that’s probably gonna be doable for still only some teams. TB defiantly still couldnt..lol. Or lose one of Cirelli, Cernak, or Sergachev..lol.

And buy-out time is over!!

Well first of all Tyler Johnson is a top 6 player on 90% of the teams in the league, he split his time between 2nd and 3rd line on a stacked Tampa team. We won't be retaining on Johnson and that's that. We will much sooner move Palat or Gourde than retain on Johnson
