Description
I didn't focus too much on lines, which prospects play, etc. This is just making the cap work.

Stamkos starts the year on LTIR giving them space to sign Cirelli and Cernak. They both take great deals because they play in Tampa. Spread the term out a bit so they don't have any years with a lot of RFAs again.

The risk here is that it will become easier to move the players they need to once the season starts and injuries start happening.

To qualify for LTIR there is a rule somewhere that the player has to be on the roster and under the cap for the start of the season. You can move them to LTIR immediately after but you need to start the year cap compliant. I don't know it exactly but the Flames had to work with that a few years ago when Smid needed to go to LTIR

From the FAQ:
Can LTIR be used in the off-season?
Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.

At the start of the season the teams LTIR relief & ACSL is recalculated when the 10% cushion is removed.

Why the Flames wern't able to do it, I'm not sure but I'm sure there is a reason if you look into it.

I gave it to Cernak because Cirelli is the 1 year term, he will make it back next season.
