Description
Rutherford resigning has brought forth a number of rumours around Pittsburgh's Malkin, Letang, and Crosby. With Pitt proving to be on the decline and looking for a rebuild, it is possible that one of these players are on the move in the near future which brings me to my point.
Although it is highly unlikely that Sid is going to move due to his loyalty to his city, and organization, if he were to choose to move to a contender to try and go on one last run, IMO the Boston Bruins are a perfect fit. The overall culture of the organization, past successes, and leadership and diversity of the group meshes perfectly with the drive that 87 has. This isn't the only factor that is favourable to Sid:
1) He trains with Marchand in the offseasons in eastern Canada
2) He played on a line with Bergeron on Canada's 2005 world junior 'dream team' where Patrice let the tournament scoring and Sid was also in the top 10 as an underager.
3) He was on a line with both Bergeron AND Marchand in the 2016 World Cup of hockey where Canada won the championship and who was 1, 2, and 3 in scoring in the tournament? None other than 87, 63, and 37.
Despite their past success internationally, I believe there is one more accomplishment to complete the puzzle. Obviously this comes at a huge cost to Boston, but is it worth it? But again, as the title suggests - this is a stretch. But it would be extremely cool to see as a Bruins fan.

Tough one to break down here. Obvious disclaimer that i don’t think it’s really possible, as i think Sid retires a penguin.

That said,
In the immediate, it could be awesome. If nothing else, i would just love to see it. On the other side of the coin, what if it doesn’t work, the left side of the D doesn’t pan out, Bergeron, Marchand, and Crosby hit the decline that they kind of have to eventually, and the bruins are left with a team in need of at very least a retool, without a first rounder in three straight drafts and all the other pieces. Could wind up wasting a huge chunk of mcavoy and pastrnaks prime.

It’s the Bs pulling a Penguins move. Mortgage a huge part of the future to win the Cup this year. I would do it if only because there’s absolutely nothing better than winning it all. Ask every Blackhawks, Kings, Cavaliers fan and they will all tell you that it’s worth it. Flags fly forever.
Having said that, I wonder if doing a Studnika + picks for Guentzel would be more feasible IRL. Even that though, I would rather go after a top D. With Gryz down (again), Miller living on borrowed time and the Lauzon, Zboril duo still unproven, I still think that the left side is going to be the anchor that keeps this team from winning.

Even getting Crosby, the Bruins are not deep enough to be serious contender for the Cup and the deal would bankrupt them for the future. Pasta and McAvoy would probably be looking to move on when UFA status is reached because there would be very little left to play with by then. Just sy no.

I’ve not heard one single rumor about Crosby being traded. At all lol. As long as Mario is involved with the team, Crosby is going nowhere
