Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Rakell, Rickard
  2. 2021 3rd round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Oilers fans might be familiar with him. 27 years old and is getting very unlucky on-ice shooting this season. Has gotten 40+ points in his last 2 years (only played 65-70 games), and 30 goals 2 years before that.
ANA
  1. 2021 1st round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
1sts in general this season are weak, other than top 10 picks. The draft class is the worst since 2012, and there arent a lot of opportunities to scout players due to the pandemic.
2.
EDM
  1. Raanta, Antti ($2,125,000 retained)
Additional Details:
With the Coyotes 6th in their division, they are likely to be selling come the deadline. Raanta is a pending UFA that has put up a SV% above 0.918 5 times in the last 7 years. Our next Roloson?
ARI
  1. Benson, Tyler
  2. Stalock, Alex
  3. 2021 3rd round pick (ANA)
Additional Details:
Retained to account for deadline cap space.

I think Anaheim passes, they're certainly not going to send a third-round pick with Rackell.
You're gonna have to give up a lot more for Raanta, considering Stalock was free and they didn't pick him up, and Benson isn't worth a whole lot.

I’m not big on trading for a goalie across boarder during the season. Quarantine is a pain in the butt. He would be joining the team when the stakes are at the highest after sitting around doing nothing for two weeks no practices with new team no adjustment time in my opinion it’s just a risky situation. I just wouldn’t expend assets due to risk involved.

In the past 10 games the goalie situation in Edmonton has stabilized.

Smith: 1.99 GAA / .934 sv%
Koskinen: 2.73 GAA / .925 sv%

Adding Stalock (in 2 weeks) should be a good guard against either regular having a poor stretch - he's streaky himself but he's played 151 games at 2.61 GAA / .909 sv% which is decent.

The exact reasoning you put behind not giving a crap about moving your 1st, is the exact reason why it's not enough for Rakell...let alone with them adding a 3rd.

Rakell is so meh. He was last year too, and the year before. CF posters put way too much stock in reputations and too little in performance.

In the past 2+ seasons, Rakell has scored just 1.55 P/60 at 5v5, good for 213th of 372 players (12 per team) that played at least 900 minutes. That ranks him as a 3rd liner. His goal scoring is worse, as his 0.59 ranks him 243rd in the league - below average 3rd liner.
