Description
Fleury needs moved. Tried to find a logical partner/potential trading block players.... Elliott sucks this year so far and Fleury also struggling. Hamilton was rumored to be on the block recently as well so fug it... Depending on cap outlook and GM's maybe draft picks or some salary retention on Fleury happens.

With the season Brian Elliot is having, the Flames will have to shell out a lot more for this trade to happen.

Fleury has been awful too.. I see it as the Pens get a back up and expiring contract to offset the risk of Fleury leaving and get an upgrade with Dougie over Maatta who's too slow and is often a liability in the Pens system.

While he's still not getting any scoring production, Maatta's play has been better as of the last month or so. That being said, I still don't think Calgary wants to move Dougie.

As for the value of the goalies, it all comes down to how much GMs value recency. Historically, Fleury has a far better track record and pedigree than Elliott, but both have been absolutely dreadful this year. The current narrative spreading across Penguinland is that the team for some reason always plays better in front of Murray, but most possession/corsi/etc stats show that difference to be negligible and in some cases even the reverse. The simple fact of the matter is that Fleury can still be a successful goalie as he generally has been throughout his career, but that success will need to happen outside of Pittsburgh because a 3.42 GAA and .900 save % simply isn't good enough to warrant continuing a 50/50 split with a guy who is top 10 in just about every statistical goaltending category.

Everyone knows that more often than not talented players who begin seriously struggling do benefit from a change of scenery, and I think the same can be said for Fleury (and Elliott for that matter actually). It just comes down to whether Treliving or any other GM is willing to take that leap of faith and give up something of value to acquire him mid season or just wait until June when the Penguins are desperate to unload his NMC and his value drops to somewhere around a 3rd (heck, maybe even 4th if his GAA stays above 3.00) round pick.
