I don't know a lot about the Wild as an organization but I imagine they have some rivals they'd rather keep playing rather than being put with the canadian teams.

Why would you want this to continue? Moving back to the old divisions makes travel much easier for most teams

'Most' teams? Uh.... The only teams who have worse travel right now are the canadian teams, which is offset by the multiple games in the city before moving on, and St Louis and maybe the Wild. One of the big wins this season for teams has been the reduced travel cost.

Better yet Buffalo relocates to Quebec and the Nordiques join the North Division. Carolina moves into the East Division.

Central division travel is worse as well (in terms of distance), and I'd even argue it is worse in the west because of STL and MIN
