Marcus Pettersson is 3rd pair in Calgary and would only be there to be exposed to Seattle this summer. Even if he is above Gio in the depth due to his regression all he does is then block Valimaki's development

He went 16th and has been injured ever since. 60 NHL games and even less minor league games. Thats including the year he lost with the knee injury.
