Eichel

This certainly makes this team scary, but I am not sure this can work long term. You are going to lose a lot of depth after next season. A lot of money is needed for the next couple of years. Fox and Laf both need big money. Kakko as well as your defence. Zabanejad is likely going to be let go as well as possibly Strome. Where the Rangers will need to be good to succeed is finding cheap depth guys. I think a lot of teams, the Rangers, Colorado, TO for starters are going to keep getting low risk cheap deals for depth to augment the high priced core they have. As long as you can stay away from cap killer contracts you'll be really good for a long time.

100% agree, this team would be scary next year but would quickly fall apart because of cap casualties. I think if an Eichel to NYR trade really went down at least one of Buchnevich/Strome would have to go back to Buffalo to offset money.

Wrong parts

At this point,
I don’t think NYR has good enough young pieces to win the bidding war on Eichel
1- neither Kakko or Lafreniere are tearing it up offensively
2- they have no high end center prospect to send us

And it’s especially not happening for these secondary pieces

Laf and Kakko will be untouchable in NYR’s eyes. I think LA can win the bidding war but depends how badly they want Jack. Don’t see them offering Byfield. If you think Chytil Kravtsov Schneider and 2 firsts is secondary pieces then I don’t know what to tell you lol
