I don’t see how another late 1st this year moves the needle for Dumba. I’d ask for Boqvist and a 2022 1st.

That’s fine, I just think the Wild would hold on to Dumba if that’s the offer. I also don’t think a late teens pick and a guy who will play 3C or 2LW for you, who hasn’t produced at the NHL level, is an exorbitant ask.

If Devils fail to make playoffs, the pick turns into 2024 1st pick.

That’s quite the condition. Pushing it to 2023 is one thing, but 2024 is another. There would have to be a 2nd or 3rd coming back if that was triggered and any conditional pick has to be unconditional.

Also, if you think you’ll be in lotto territory after trading for a guy like Dumba that’s just poor management. I know you probably see Michkov and Bedard but that’s not a reason to push it past that year.
