Description
Well the third pair wasn't a complete disaster, not enough consistent play from the forwards
Team played pretty well in 2nd and most of 3rd but the
Lines need a fresh shake up

Im sending Tolvanen back to Finland, hope hes ready to play in August. He needs to learn how to carry the puck, he's limited as a shooter when he can't successfully hold possession. For a shooter not to register any shots on 7 power plays or 5v5 ...
Kunin is rarely getting on the ice, could see him scratched in game 3, doesnt play special teams, Hynes doesn't trust him. I think he could play on the 4th line over Trenin, but hes just taking up space on 2nd-3rd line playing 10 minutes no PK/PP
Havent seen anything out of Trenin would replace with Cousins/Olivier
Maybe Tomasino draws in game 4 if same problems continue.

I would like to tweak the bottom defence pair, but i dont think Farrance/Davies/Fabbro are reliable puck-movers especially in a physical series.

Nashville's issue is that their powerplay is simply anemic. Carolina has the 3rd best PK in the league throughout the regular season, fair enough. But Carolina had a higher expected-goals for shorthanded than Nashville did on the powerplay in game 2. That says everything. Carolina's defense core is just too good at stopping the entries for Nashville's forwards, and Nedeljkovic is there to mop up what leaks through them. In reality, it doesn't matter who Nashville plays upfront if the Canes defense is at their best, it will be the same result no matter what changes are made.

The defensive core for Nashville for the most part has been good. Ellis has been eaten alive through the first 2 games but overall it's been strong. Limiting Carolina to no even-strength goals until there were less than 30 seconds left in the game is an accomplishment. Between this blueline and Saros, it's been very annoying to watch as a Canes fan.
JOFA and villenash liked this.

So, a guy plays 1 game and doesn't register a shot so he's deemed worthless for the rest of the series? Probably should bench Saros too since he didn't register a shot on goal on any of the PPs so far this series.

I'd try the following lines:

Forsberg - Granlund - Duchene
Tolvanen - Johansen - Arvidsson
Jarnkrok - Haula - Kunin
Trenin - Sissons - Jeannot/Grimaldi/Cousins

And keep Arvidsson away from the PP -- when PP1 was out there, at least they had some good looks with Tolvanen back in the fold, but PP2 was abysmal.

Im all for reuniting Forsberg, Duchene, Granlund. Preds need a line that can produce.
I agree Arvidsson should not be on PP
I would swap Trenin out before Jeannot
Not putting Grimaldi in, too much of a liability defensively, and would get pushed around in physical series

If Saros registered a shot he'd be playing in Tolvanen's spot tears of joy
Im as big a Tolvanen fan as the next Preds fan, but he hasn't looked the same since his return, 1 goal in 9 games, hes irrelevant 5v5, cant help the power play enter the zone. Hes a trigger man and hes not shooting. He has the best shot on the team, I personally would play him on off side let him take one-timers. Hard to stay patient with him when they are down 0-2 and hasn't looked the same sine return. He at least needs to show some promise 5on5 if hes not gonna produce on PP
