First note,
1. Offersheets are not likely
2. I am only picking Vegas here since CF has them as last pick
3. And I am only picking Reinhart since he fits as an example here.

Most offersheets are built to pick off players from cap-crunched teams.
But they could be used as an out to get a player to UFA more easily.

The scenario here is that competitive team offers 1-year, lower dollar contract to player with 1-year until his UFA season. Buffalo surely wants him to sign a multi-year deal, but if he wants to move on sooner, signing a deal may be in his interest.

Reinhart is coming off of a good season, so he may want arbitration. If he goes that route, he will not be eligible for an offer-sheet.

Does Reinhart sign if he wants out of Buffalo? A 1-year deal gets him out of Buffalo earlier and gets him to UFA next season. It would be less than his qualifying offer though.
