I agree with Palhal. You're gonna have to make some deals to have this work in the future. Why clear yourself of burdensome contracts to sign players for heavy amounts of money that put your cap back in a struggle for when Skjei, Vesey, Buchnevich, Raanta, Hayes, Zuc, Kreider and your Captain McDonagh need contracts? I mean, any major contracts leaving in the next three years are Rick Nash and... That's it. That's 7.8 million, plus the nearly 2 million you'd get from Holden, to sign all of those players to deals? Or do you deal away players like Stepan or try and get rid of Lundqvist's cap and let some of those FA's just walk? Maybe one free agent signing for possibly Shattenkirk might be possible, but grabbing Alzner and paying him 5 million to just put him on the third defensive pair probably wouldn't jive with him. Also I don't even see Shattenkirk signing for that much, since the market is boosting his value so much.

Also, wouldn't buy out both Staal and Girardi. If Hank were to one day waive, I thought I'm wrong but aren't you only allowed to eat salary on 2 players at a time or does that not apply for buyouts? If Hank were to get moved odds are would have to eat some of his salary.
