Detroit will need another 2nd attached to Gardiner. 1 year of Staal cost the Rangers a 2nd. 2 years of Gards costs 2 2nds.

Last time I looked, 5 years for Svech walks him right to UFA. I’m open to being wrong, but if that is correct…a 5 year contract will be the only length which will absolutely not happen.

Svech contract doesn’t really make sense for either side. This team is probably worse than last years version so needs more tinkering. Didn’t address top 6/9 scoring and defense got worse. Ullmark is a good target but probably more expensive.
