Trades where the onus is on the Sabres to flip an asset to get the actual value for Eichel arent going to work

Lot of quantity. Not a lot of quality. CGY only makes sense for Eichel if Tkachuk is in the deal and it’s a “retool” type of trade

I don't think this is necessarily a bad deal for Buffalo, they could do a lot worse. There's 2 firsts (and this year will be 12OA), a recent first who's trending well and would have a shot at making the roster this year, a 2nd, and a top 6 centre with 2 more years under contract. With Buffalo's hand being forced and a neck injury, I don't think his return is going to be as high as Buffalo fans are hoping. No doubt he will be in demand, but this package is a top 6 roster forward, equivalent of 3 firsts, and a 2nd. That's a fair offer.

I say this as an Oilers fan who would prefer Eichel not go to our rival.
