Who are you protecting over DeMelo?

I can't see SEA taking anyone other than Appleton -- it gets a bit more complicated if the protect Stanley over DeMelo as either Stanley/Appleton would be a good choice. I'd still go with Appleton though.

Appleton seems like the choice, unless Stanley isn’t protected, which at that point seattle has 2 really good options. DeMelo would be a solid option for seattle as the RD options aren’t overly amazing.

I think Stanley will be protected over Demelo. If they take Appleton, then just replace Greene with DeMelo and don’t sign suter and insert heinola. The cap works however things shake out. I also think Copp is likely traded before the season, so they’d have to address that 2LW spot. Maybe they go big, trade copp, don’t sign suter and Greene, have berdin as the backup and go for landeskog if he becomes a FA.

Now Landeskog would be worth it if the Jets chase a forward.
