1) seth jones reportedly will not sign extension in philly so that gives hawks leverage as if they want a better return then they would without extension they have to trade him to hawks (assuming hell sign long term)

2) the friedman comments are out of context they said that probably where columbus starts and then followed that statement by chicago will not do that as dach and debrincat have already been said to be untouchable because they want to transition from toews and kane era to dach and debrincat era

3) this return isnt what chicago is going to give but rather a combination of 3-5 of these guys depending on what columbus

I personally doubt Chicago will get Jones without Dach, I wouldnt trade Dach, i just dont think CBJ will make a deal without. Jones will be in insane demand soon as 5.4 for a top pairing D man whos only 26 will get crazy offers, so again I dont think Chi will et him unless they part with Dach which is a bad idea

exactly, if jones says hell only sign in Chicago that gives Chicago all the leverage as the only other team really in the talk is Colorado and their return wont be as much

But he hasn’t said he’ll only sign in Chicago. Even if that’s the case. I really don’t believe every other team would just give up. Those teams believe they can convince him they are a great place to stay and if they offer enough money and term and provide everything he might want. Then he might change his mind and they would have an entire year to do that. If between the draft (assuming they attained him then) and the deadline if they fail they still have a small amount of value to hedge that bet.

I don’t think it’s Chicago and Jones has CBJ by the balls and the CBJ have to take whatever offer Chicago gives because they’re getting 0 without. That’s a huge leap.

I emphasize I would not trade Dach. I said that before. I just don’t think this will happen without. Could be wrong
