Description
Buffalo takes back plenty of money to make sure Eichels contract fits. Two NHL players, a couple solid center prospects, and a late first for Eichel and a solid younger player.

Dahlin played right side throughout his time overseas and Buffalo could potentially really look to get his untapped offensive potential really going.

Trade makes sense. You then move Trocheck at the deadline for a 1st plus. Nice work.

That’s what I was thinking. If he does really good, could see them re-signing him for a leadership veteran role. Overall though, tons of UFAs at the deadline to keep stockpiling assets for this rebuild

Ottawa declines.

If we trade Tierney, it will be in a package for something bigger or for a draft pick or two.

Value is pretty fair but at this point it seems like Adam’s has overplayed his hand and there’s still a lot of uncertainty about the injury and how he’d recover. Canes would probably sub out Troch with another prospect instead since Eichel will likely end up missing a chunk of the season and they’d want insurance on him not being ready this year.

Could agree on Trocheck comment. Eichel probably misses a part of next year.

Injury angle is massively overblown though. Eichel has zero chance to win a medical arbitration case. Zero. None. No independent arbitration doctor is going to recommend a surgery with no demonstrated history on NHL players (and pretty much no meaningful long-term data on wear and tear on anyone as the tech is so new). Why hasn't Eichel filed for medical arbitration yet? He knows he's going to lose. That's why.

He gets fusion whether or not here's a trade in all likelihood. Long track record, overwhelmingly successful. Really no uncertainty beyond the nonsense the Eichel camp is creating on purpose as an excuse to force a trade (and who can blame him). The teams trading for Eichel know this but are using it as an excuse to lowball.

Adams should keep Eichel this year. Let him go to arbitration. Delay the surgery as long as possible to keep him out of training camp and away from the team then he either comes back and plays to prove he's healthy or gets suspended without pay and traded next offseason. No reason for Adams to budge now. Bad move by Eichel's agents.
