What? He is a 7th D man, maybe a bottom pairing at best. Waste of Wilde to make this trade when they don’t need to move Leo or Hickey right now and can just bury them.

He’s been borderline elite defensively over the last 3 seasons and he’s not a blackhole offensively. I wouldn’t trade wilde straight up , but including komarov and Hickey makes it worth it IMO. Siegenthaler can be a really good #4 D

He’s an undervalued D. I wouldn’t really put much stock into how the capitals handle defenseman. Nate Schmidt was frequently scratched and taken by VGK in the expansion draft - immediately became a top pair D. Not saying siegenthaler has that upside, but he has a strong track record of putting up good two way results and he’s only 24 YO. It’s a worthwhile bet
