Well that trade attempt is a clear F. No protection, no Lucic, no Monahan (not waiving), then add valuable pieces. So...just terrible.

Why would Lucic or Monahan waive their NTC to go to BUF?

This is just brutal for buffalo. Lucic adds nothing, monahan basically needs to be flipped immediately, and valimaki plays left d- the same position as our two recent first overall picks, plus 3 of our top prospects, and two other guys that are currently on the team. Plus the first is protected just in case, by some unlikely chance, some part of this deal might have broken our way.
