Gotcha. I'd take Aho for sure. # 1 centers are hard to come by. I should know as a Rangers fan we're trying to upgrade at the position.

I'm pretty sure at the time of the Habs signing Aho the compensation chart read 1st, 2nd, 3rd for that $ amount. I remember Bergy not willing to risk losing two 1st Rd picks and fit the contract into the high end of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd compensation chart. The chart does alter every once in awhile.

And the signing was summer of 2019, after the Caufield Draft year.

So all the compensation picks would be from the 2020 Draft year.
