Description

I took the approach of filling in the roster. I do not have faith Boquist can get it done this year and McLeod is anything more than a 4th liner. Even if those two stepped up and filled the 3rd and 4th Line Center role injuries happen and you need bodies ready to play, at least without getting caved in. I made some interesting choices and some of these guys are on PTO's with other teams but if they had a good showing but were not signed at the end of training camp I would be happy if the Devils signed one of them over the guys the Devils brought in on a PTO.

If players like Foote, Holtz, and Mercer show in camp they deserve a shot, I would still expect the Devils to sign a few veterans on PTO's or pick up a waiver claim to fill out the bottom 6.

Why not run Hughes, Nico, Zacha, Mcleod down the middle? Will give you better depth, I think. Some of these signings are hard/not possible to predict given that Chenyuck and Ho-Sang are on PTOs with other teams

It remains to be seen, but after last season Zacha may just be better on the wing.

Ho-Sang and Galy are on other team PTOs but may not be signed by those teams. Depending on how they show at those camps, they could be good candidates. On short term deals if they were available it would not be a bad thing. At least they cannot be any worse then the PTOs the Devils gave to Vesey, etc. Plus those two have way more upside. I do not see the harm at all in these two possibly being signed for a year.
