That's a lot of money and term to throw at an RFA (Horvat). I think Benning will bridge him with a 4-year deal, probably under $5MM per.

$5.5MM is what Tavares is making. Horvat is good, but not that good.

I really appreciate the feedback! I know that the term and money is a lot for horvat but Benning made a statement earlier in the season stating that he wanted to sign Bo to a long term deal and I think his contract could be between 5 and 6 million if it is a long term deal.

i think its a win win situation for horvat and the Canucks if they can get him at 5.5 million for 7 years

The Tavares comparison isn't a fair one as Tavares was signed 5 years ago. Better comparables would be Barkov (6 years @ 5.9), Couturier (6 years at 4.33) and Monahan (7 years at 6.73). I would say 5.5 over 7 years is a good deal for the Canucks for a 21 year old centre who is trending as an elite 2nd line centre with a solid two-way first line centre ceiling. 5.5 overs 7 years, or 5 over 5/6 years.

I know he is a left-handed shot but goldobin is actually a RW not a LW. For now you can put him with Sven and Bo and that's a pretty decent second line.
