There is no increase in the cap next year. NHLPA have come out and are not going to use their 5% increase. The NHL would have to increase, which i doubt they will.

Curious where you saw that? All I've seen is that "Bill Daly says the NHL's salary cap is projected to be $75.5M-$76M next season, but adds it will depend on inflator negotiations with NHLPA." Also, "Cap could go as high as $75.5M next season. NHLPA could request that it stays at $73M to lower the escrow."

Do you have other information? I'm still predicting an increase just not to $76m. I expect that in negotiations it'll come down to $75m.

Ah, well, it still appears there's a decision to be made in negotiations between the NHL and the NHLPA. That article is from Feb 5th and my quotes are from tweets out of news from the GM meeting today. Appears the NHL and GMs would like a cap increase since they announced it today and the NHLPA is likely to want a flat cap to decrease escrow. My bet is that they meet somewhere in the middle. If the NHL says $75.5m-$76m to the press, I'm betting that they're hoping for a $74.5m-$75m cap next season after negotiating with the NHLPA.
