Description
BUF fans, I know (and understand), you guys are asking for more; But, if I'm CBJ, or most any teams on the market for him right now, I'm only picking up Eichel if/when his price comes down. He's an astounding player, but he'd be out for this year due to the procedure, still have some level of uncertainty/ injury concern on his return (to say nothing of the fact he'd likely be almost two years without playing a hockey game by the time he returns), and $10M cap hit. For as good as Eichel is, that is a lot to take on.

- The 2022 1st is off the table, at least not without protections. I'd been toying with the 2022 2nd becoming a 1st if CBJ make the playoffs.
- Domi and Nyquist are added largely as future trade pieces for BUF, ergo the large retention from CBJ. Hard to be a TDL team and pass up Domi or Nyquist for literal pennies on the dollar, if BUF is willing to retain additional salary.
- Korpi is added because, well, looks like you guys could use bodies in front of the net. Again, TDL fodder if you like.
- Foudy, Tex, and Voronkov are all young, controllable talent - long term pieces. CBJ already have a bit of a logjam at F in the coming years, so this allows them to clear out room.
- I added Hayden because we need someone to cover some fourth line minutes - particularly looking for size. If there are any other nominal players/ bad contracts worth dumping from BUF's side (not including Skinner), I'm open.

Looking for some constructive feedback here!

People on this site don't know what constructive feedback is unfortunately. Lots of miserable keyboard warriors on here...

That being said, I think it's a good start, but I doubt Buffalo accepts both Domi AND Nyquist. Domi's value is at an all time low and they'd probably not be able to flip him for much.

I think Buffalo would probably want one of Sillinger (replacing their hole at center) or Marchenko (for his potential future star power).

EDIT: but I don't see a world where Columbus trades Chinakhov for Eichel, like others have suggested. It's not worth the risk to trade such a highly rated prospect for a question mark like Eichel.

Sillinger won't be traded. Marchenko or Chinakhov is a maybe. Boqvist would be, but if he's moved we would be empty at RD, if anything.

And yeah, Domi and/or Nyquist is up to BUF.

All told, as I said in the description, I don't think CBJ make a trade unless/until the price comes down. If someone else out there is willing to give BUF the treasure trove they want right now, mazel tov. I don't see Eichel as a necessary piece to the team's future success - it's more an opportunistic move if it comes to fruition.

Laine (if he's still around) - Eichel - Voracek
Johnson - Sillinger - Bjorkstrand
Marchenko - Roslovic - Chinakhov
Robinson - Kuraly - Jenner

Could be a fun group.

I'd want some sort of risk mitigation w/r/t Eichel's injury in the form of conditions on the picks or something similar.

Interesting point. What if something like,

“If Eichel fails to appear in at least 60% of CBJ 2023 games (49 total), including playoffs, the 2023 1st downgrades to a 2nd.”

Eh? Suggestions?
