Blomqvist is two years behind Roman Durny and unsigned, and Lukas Dostal is a far better prospect.
As far as fine defensive forwards are concerned, that isn't a priority for one of the worst offensive teams in the NHL. Rakell and Silfverberg plus developing youngsters like Lundestrom and Groulx should be able to handle all of the penalty-killing duties when Derek Grant isn't in the lineup. Henrique for ZAR plus a pick might be a reasonable exchange, but the other guys are of little to no use to us.
Ya, I don’t see any teams taking on Henrique without taking a contract back, or ANA adding assets. I was looking for a trade partner for Matheson.
Pens definitely have to add assets and take back a contract in order to move him.
L.Dostal being a far better prospect is debatable. Ana might not need another goalie prospect in your opinion but more potential is debatable for sure.
Both were top rated goalies in their draft classes. Blomqvist was usually ranked 3rd; depending on rankings. Behind only Yaroslav Askarov and Drew Commasso.
Blomqvist drafted 52 overall in ‘20 draft and Dostal 87th in ‘18 draft. Similar draft positions.
Both played very well in international competition. Blomqvist already has played games in Liiga at 18 years old.
It’s hard to predict goalies but “far better” isn’t accurate. Dostal is farther along in his development naturally, but Blomqvist ceiling is similar.
