Description
Honestly, after listening to 32 Thoughts today, I have a better take on this. Mitch Marner should absolutely not be traded. I get it. He's been struggling and it's so frustrating to see, but lets be honest. We are always going to be upset at him because of his ****ty agent and contract.

Let's put that aside. I think Dubas is right to bet on Marner. He will find his game again once he gets out of his own head. What I do think Dubas should 100% do is find a better LW for Matt or Tavares. Bunting is solid but Ritchie is horrible.
A replacement for Holl is also needed. I think Liligren has played just as well as Holl has and has more upside than him. Muzzin hasn't been great but I believe he is playing injured. Need someone to take the load off of him. A Manson or a Lindholm in ANA would be perfect.

Seeing how this could be Dubas' last year, GM's are known to make a very rash and costly "future" trade that deals one of their best prospects for immediate help.

Side Note: what do you think about bringing a guy like Patrick Marleau into the Leafs staff? Like a special advisor type of role? To help get Matthews and Marner back to normal? Or would it end up being a Jumbo Joe type of Situation

Stars get a lot more. Pavelski is still elite. I also think they make the playoffs so i don’t think Pavelski is available.

Unless they continue this terrible play I can’t see it happening in season but absolutely a big contract NEEDS to be traded. Mostly likely Marner (Tavares NMC, Nylander has taken his game to a new level, Matthews no chance he is going unless he walks). The flat cap has changed everything for this team. It’s a freaking crap shoot every year trying to find that million dollar player that can overachieve in this roster. Too many guys have walked or traded because they can’t fit into the cap. It’s a different world now, Dubas and Co need to adapt.
Its still possible to see a Kerfoot or Mikheyev (salary needs to go out if you are bringing in a player) trade this season to try a bolster the lineup. But it’s not happening anytime soon, this current roster and really the STARS of this team need it figure it out fast.
