I just can’t get onboard with moving Hatakka and if we’re buying, I think there are better options out there than phil

I just don't see room for these guys in our lineup in the present or the future

on the wings we have Eklund, Dahlen, Meier, Labanc, Balcers, Weisblatt, and Gregor. I think all of these guys will be better than Leonard.
On LD we have Simek, Knyzhov, Kniazev, Ferraro, Middleton, and Pasichnuk. There's just no space for him cause these guys are all/will be capable NHL defensemen.

I think Kessel is a good option because I think he can be traded for at a good price. Many contenders might not want to pay him that much (even w retention). Sharks have the option to because they have a decent amount of cap space left and he only has a year left.

Hatakka is better than Simek, Middleton and pasichnuk; who knows when Knyzov will be back and at the same level. Leonard is a perfectly capable nhl player who could play on a third or even fourth line, half the guys you mentioned are already in the top 6.

I agree that Hatakka will likely be better than Simek/Middleton/Pasichnuk, but he will probably not be better than Ferraro, Kniazev, or Knyzhov. That means the only available spot for him would be as the 7th defenseman or maybe the 3rd pair if there's an injury. I would rather have a cheap, defensive defenseman fill in there, though, like Middleton or Simek over Hatakka.
Knyzhov should be back in a couple months

In the future I could see the top 9 forward lines being:
Eklund-Hertl-Meier
Dahlen-Bordeleau-Labanc
Gregor-Couture-Weisblatt

I just don't think Leonard will be better than any of these players and I think he has more value in a trade than on our 4th line
