I feel like Holl and Ritchie "For some picks" is going to be the new "Mikheyev, Engvall, and Dermott for some picks", and will last until this time next year, when neither of them are traded.

Though I could certainly see Ritchie being bought out if his play continues to be the same as it's been his entire career...What a weird signing.

Nah someone will trade for Ritchie just because he’s 240lbs and 6’4.

As well Holl has good value due to the crazy contracts given out to bottom pairing RHD. Tucker Poolman got 2.5 million and Ceci got 3+ million. Someone will trade for both

I would trade Kerfoot before trading Kase. Kase and Kampf are 2 good pieces on a checking line. I actually like Engvall-Kampf-Kase as a 3rd line and then Ho-Sang can play 2nd line and Bunting 1st line.

Also idk about Robertson as I think he needs a full year in the AHL. Alex Stevees looks NHL ready and I think he would get shot next year over Robertson. So now your 4th line would be Simmonds-Steeves-Spezza.

Mikheyev won’t return imo.

It's less of a "They don't have value" (Though, as a Ducks fan who has had to watch Ritchie disappear for weeks on end, that contract was a dumb move), and more of a "Oh these are the convenient, easy to create space players that we can trade and just get picks back for!" thing. I just feel like it ain't as easy as just saying "Here! Take 'em!", because that's pretty rare for an overpaid bottom 6 forward who anyone could have had this past offseason. Could Holl net you a pick? Sure.

I guess that's just the 1st part of this though...I'd question:
-Envall taking less than what his QO would be.
-Campbell taking less a mil less on AAV than what Cal Petersen just signed for, even though Campbell has put up way better numbers.
-Mikheyev taking a pay cut.
-Running with a 21 man roster.

And then, the big one:
-Is this team any better than the current Leafs team? I'd argue that they're probably worse.
Hammerwise liked this.

I understand it’s gonna be hard for Ritchie to move but Holl is an easy move. Ritchie someone’s is gonna overcompensate for grit just like the Rangers did this past season. It’s bound to happen.

However to your second point, I don’t think this team is better. There would be changes I would make to make it better. Personally I would trade Kerfoot over Kase as Kase and Kampf have solid chemistry and call up Alex Stevees instead. I would also give Robertson a shot on the 3rd line due to his hardworking ethic. Ho sang I believe can be a top 6 player due to his natural talent. My personal lines would be:

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Ho-Sang-Tavares-Marner
Robertson-Kampf-Kase
Simmonds-Stevees-Spezza

Reilly-Dermott
Muzzin-Brodie
Sandin-Liljegren

Campbell
Mrazek

That line up there would be around 80 million which gives us 2.5 million for depth. Plus we would have Hiroven, Niemela and other rookies signed who are NHL ready/near NHL ready who will get stints and are waiver exempt which makes em immensely valuable to this team.
