This is what I think would be a realistic roster walking into the post-deadline schedule and possibly into the playoffs given what Holland has talked about. This is assuming that the guys with miyocard are cleared and covid listed players are off protocol. Reporting within edmonton suggests that Archibald may play this season and if so, he is probably in the lineup.

Holland isn't spending significant pieces for a rental so had to go with a cheaper option that has shown promising numbers in the playoffs in recent history. Kulak is a much better 3rd pair option than koekoek or russell and has playoff experience so its a nice low-price addition to a dcore that will need serious work in the offseason to be better at keeping the puck out of the net.

The goaltending market is brutal at this time and goalies tend to be really overpriced during the deadline so sadly, Edmonton has to stand pat and ride with internal options and pray smith can stay healthy until this can be addressed LT in the offseason. If smith stays healthy and that's a BIG IF, him and skinner could be an adequate tandem for the time being.

Upfront, it all hinges on whether the Kane lottery ticket ends up working or not. If things go well, that cheap top6LW add could be a 3-for-1 solve for this team.
Would solve:
1. the need for a top6 winger
2. need for a 3C (because nuge moves down to line3 as a result of the kane signing)
3. some of the forward depth issues as player(s) punching above their weight get more appropriate matchups and TOI
- Also upfront, some better internal depth options could be available (Archibald, holloway, marody,Russell) which can help this team greatly improve.
